Amazon FBA Fee Calculator

Calculate your fulfillment fee, referral fee, and net profit for any FBA product. Rates reflect the 2025 non-peak schedule plus the April 2026 fuel & logistics surcharge.

Know Your Real Profit Before You Source

Amazon FBA charges two main fees on every sale: a referral fee (a percentage of the sale price based on category) and a fulfillment fee (based on your product's size tier and weight). Together they can easily consume 25–40% of your sale price. This calculator applies the current fee schedule so you can see your actual net profit — and whether a product is worth selling — before you commit to inventory.

How Amazon FBA Fees Work

Every FBA sale generates two mandatory fees that come directly out of your sale proceeds before Amazon deposits anything into your account. Understanding both is essential for pricing products profitably.

The Referral Fee

Amazon charges a referral fee on every sale — a percentage of the total sale price based on your product category. Most categories are 15%, but it ranges from 8% (electronics, grocery) to 17% (clothing). This fee is non-negotiable and applies regardless of whether you use FBA or fulfill yourself (FBM).

The Fulfillment Fee

The FBA fulfillment fee covers picking, packing, shipping, and customer service for each order. It's calculated based on your product's size tier and weight. Small standard items under 4 oz start at around $3.22; large bulky items can run $9–$26+. As of April 2026, a 3.5% fuel and logistics surcharge is applied on top of the base fulfillment fee.

Real Profit Example

A product selling for $29.99 in the "Home & Kitchen" category, weighing 0.8 lbs (large standard), with a $8.00 cost: Referral fee ~$4.50, fulfillment fee ~$4.75 (incl. surcharge). Total fees ~$9.25. Net profit: ~$12.74 — a 42.5% margin. If your cost was $15 instead, you'd be losing money.

Frequently Asked Questions

How often does Amazon change FBA fees?

Amazon typically updates its FBA fee schedule once a year, usually in January. There was no increase for 2025. In April 2026, Amazon added a 3.5% fuel and logistics surcharge on top of base fulfillment fees. Always check Seller Central for the latest rates before making sourcing decisions.

Does the referral fee apply to shipping?

For FBA sellers, Amazon generally calculates the referral fee on the item price only, not on the shipping charged to the buyer (since Amazon handles shipping). For FBM sellers, the referral fee typically applies to the total amount including shipping. Always verify with your specific category's fee schedule.

What is dimensional weight and does it affect my fees?

Amazon uses dimensional weight (volume ÷ 139) for large standard and bulky items when it exceeds actual weight. This matters for lightweight but bulky products — a large lightweight box could be charged as if it weighed significantly more. Keep products compact and dense to minimize this impact.

Are there other FBA fees this calculator doesn't include?

Yes — monthly inventory storage fees, long-term storage fees (for items stored over 365 days), returns processing fees, and optional services like labeling or repackaging. For a complete picture of your FBA costs, add an estimated storage fee based on your product's cubic footage and expected inventory turnover.

Note: Fee rates are based on publicly available Amazon schedules and are updated when Amazon announces changes. Always verify current rates at Seller Central before making business decisions. SellerCalcs is not affiliated with Amazon.
