Calculate your exact Etsy fees — listing, transaction, and payment processing — and see your true net profit on every sale.
Etsy charges multiple fees on every transaction, and they add up faster than most sellers expect. Between the listing fee, transaction fee, and payment processing, you're typically losing 9–13% of every sale before you even count your cost of goods. This calculator applies Etsy's current fee schedule so you know your real profit — and can price your products accordingly.

Etsy charges three separate fees on every sale through Etsy Payments, plus an optional offsite ads fee when applicable. Understanding each one helps you price products correctly and avoid the common mistake of underpricing by ignoring fees.
Every item listed on Etsy costs $0.20. This fee is charged when you first publish a listing and again each time a sold listing auto-renews. If you sell multiple quantities of the same item, each sale triggers a $0.20 renewal. For low-priced items, this flat fee can be a meaningful percentage of your revenue.
Etsy charges a 6.5% transaction fee on the total amount the buyer pays — including the item price, shipping, and any gift wrapping charges. This fee applies to the full amount, so charging higher shipping doesn't help you avoid it. The transaction fee was raised from 5% to 6.5% in April 2022.
When a buyer pays through Etsy Payments (which is required in most countries), Etsy charges a payment processing fee of 3% of the total transaction plus $0.25 flat. This is similar to what Stripe or PayPal would charge, but it goes to Etsy.
If Etsy promotes your listing through its Offsite Ads program and a buyer clicks that ad and purchases within 30 days, Etsy charges an additional 15% fee on that sale. Sellers who made over $10,000 in the past 12 months are automatically enrolled and cannot opt out. Sellers below that threshold can opt out in their account settings.
A $35 handmade item with $5 shipping charged and $10 COGS + $4 shipping cost: Listing $0.20 + Transaction $2.60 + Processing $1.30 = $4.10 in fees. Revenue $40 minus fees $4.10 minus costs $14 = net profit $21.90 — a 54.8% margin.
Yes — both the transaction fee (6.5%) and the payment processing fee (3% + $0.25) apply to the total amount the buyer pays, which includes shipping. This catches many new sellers off guard. If you charge $8 shipping but your actual cost is $5, Etsy still takes a cut of that $8.
The 15% offsite ads fee is charged when a buyer clicks one of Etsy's ads on external platforms (Google, Facebook, Instagram, Pinterest, Bing) and makes a purchase within 30 days. It's applied in addition to all other fees. You'll see it noted on your order receipt when it applies.
In most countries where it's available, Etsy Payments is now mandatory. Sellers in supported countries must use Etsy Payments, which means the 3% + $0.25 processing fee applies to all sales. In a small number of markets where Etsy Payments isn't available, sellers may still use PayPal.
Etsy's all-in fees typically run 9–12% for most items (without offsite ads). eBay sits around 13–15%. Amazon FBA is higher per unit but includes fulfillment. For handmade, vintage, and craft items, Etsy's targeted audience and lower fees often make it the best choice. For mass-market goods, Amazon or eBay may be more appropriate.
